Focus is like Water

Just recently I finished my third re-write of “The Secret of Arking Down, Book One: The Angel’s Crown”  and sent it to my Beta Reader.

Now I’m trying my hardest to finish Book 4 of “The Tower & The Eye”, mostly so I can clear the decks to write Book 3 of the “Arking Down” Series in NaNoWriMo this year.

It’s something that I look forward to every year, the stress to writing 2,000 words a day, every day for 30 days – with the aim to “win” the event by passing the finishing line of 50,000 words (This is considered the lower word limit of a novel, BTW) and claiming a NaNoWriMo badge for my scrapbook.

The thing is, at the moment my focus is like holding water in my hands. I can cup them and hold a fair amount for a while, but the moment I move my hands to write, all I am left with is droplets clinging to my skin. I write out notes, I work on characters, but until I can focus on actually writing, it goes for nothing.

I’m hoping that tomorrow I’ll be able to get a decent 2,000 words done and then I’ll be able to get other things sorted out – stuff like book reviews and recommendations, archives and articles…
