Camp NaNoWriMo… the progress report.

CNW_Participant nano 2016

It’s a little over halfway through the month. I’m not as far ahead as I thought I would be… in fact I’m a good eight thousand words behind. The only reason for that is that I’ve been distracted by various things and I can’t seem to get my mind focussed enough to do anything.

I don’t like being negative when I write blog posts; because it hangs around forever, and I believe that whatever energy you put out into the universe comes back to you threefold. So if I put negative energy out there, it’s gonna come back and bite my butt.

I’m so tired of putting words on the page and seeing no reaction from the people I thought would like it. It often feels like I’m shouting into a vacuum when I look at how well my books are doing; and hearing about the success of others makes me feel alternately depressed (if they can sell why can’t I?), jealous (I’m just as good as them, why are they getting all the readers?)  and happy (Well at least some of my writer friends are having success). Mostly, though, it makes me feel exhausted.

Anyway, I’m plugging away at this alternate timeline to “Teacups & Time Travel”, posting each new chapter up on Wattpad so people can read it if they want to. They do seem to be interested in it, going by the stats, so I’ll keep on writing. Maybe this one will be the one that will be popular when I finally manage to finish it and publish it.

  1. Don’t be discouraged. You don’t know how many people are reading your stuff and loving it, but just not saying so (I myself am a terrible lurker). The rule of three works both ways – put good stuff out there and one day (hopefully soon) good things will come back to you in waves. (If only I could follow my own advice…!)

    1. Thanks for that! I will admit to lurking in a few places myself…(tries to ignore the Up Pompeii theme tune going in her head)… so maybe I should start commenting on things a bit more and making people feel like they’re being listened to as well…
